When conventional medical professionals refused to remove a 62-year-old local man’s testicles, police said he turned to mysterious “professionals” to relieve what he called chronic pain. Now police want to find the fly-by-night surgeons. I have never in my life seen anything quite like that,” said St. Paul police spokesman Tom Walsh.

Jamendo is a new model for artists to promote, publish, and be paid for their music: the artists distribute their music under Creative Commons licenses, allowing you to download, remix and share their music freely. It’s a “Some rights reserved” agreement. Jamendo almost passed the 4000 albums mark and offers some great features.

Microsoft has given itself less than 8 years to find another billion PC users. To help meet that goal, the company has pledged to sell $3 bundles of Windows XP and Office to governments that provide schools with free computers. That’s two percent the cost of Office alone.

Microsoft has released a new Windows Media plug-in for Firefox which allows you to use Windows Media Player inside the Firefox browser. The new plug-in supports Windows XP SP2 and Vista including the 64 bit versions of both OSes.

People directly affected by the storm that hit the Northeast on Sunday and Monday are entitled to a two-day extension for filing their tax returns, the Internal Revenue Service said Monday. Affected taxpayers, in order to avoid incurring late fees, should mark their paper tax returns with the words “April 16 Storm,” the IRS said.

Royal Dutch Shell is patenting a technique to convert shale to petroleum at a cost of only about $30/barrel. If it works, the world’s single largest source of oil would be… the United States. What would the world be like if all the oil in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Venezuela, Russia, Iraq, Nigeria, and elsewhere was suddenly nearly worthless?
